Earning Karma Question

Started earning Karma and my characters are earning the first 70 tokens needed towards the goal of 100.

If I send the same characters earning again will the extra 40 tokens carry over to the next goal or will they be lost and I will have to start again at 0?

    send enough to get the 30 exact.... then stagger the rest so they don't all finish at the same time (start them 5 or 10 minutes later), so the extra 40 can be collected after the next task comes up. In the past, the extra hasn't carried over so no reason to think it will now
