Elf spawn

It seems like the clash of clans strategy of giving everyone bonus "whatever's" has been changed for this event. Perhaps because many people finished fairly early and they gave out a lot of donuts? Speaking of which I haven't had many in a while now!

I now have only 25 elves left so after my next shot I'll be down to zero and I'm only on 9500 bells. Anyway, not long ago the strategy was to give us bonus (in that event, nerds) whereas here it seems to be almost the opposite - to try and limit them? Maybe I'm being a bit harsh or inaccurate but it seems a difference in strategy/support to me.
