Do you need in-game cash? Do you need a bunch of Squidport tiles? Are you willing to spend a fair bit of time to get these things?
If the answers to all these questions is yes, then a feeder town is for you.
Pro: you control how often your tile or farm or Channel 6 gets tapped. You are no longer at the mercy of your anonymous friends.
Pro: you can get a fair bit of cash fast.
Pro: you can get more than the 150 Squidport tile maximum.
Con: It's tedious logging in to your feeder town every day.
Con: if you don't have 2 devices, it's three times as tedious. Like, head-poundingly tedious.
Con: all your feeder towns take up slots from real people friends.
On the balance, I think it's totally worth it, just for the Squidport tiles alone. Once you've amassed enough in-game cash and tiles, then you can let the feeder towns go.
I have an embarrassingly large number of feeder towns.
