DNA is the hardest resource to get. In act 3 the Simpsons houseboat is released and it uses DNA. also to lvl the opera stage it uses DNA. I'm hoarding all my crafting stuff till act 3 (built the market and lvled the building squirter to 20/15)
I think waiting till the next act is wisest, so you can be sure you get the stuff you really want.
According to the wiki the houseboat will be corn and the new currency.
