Grand canal houses

I haven't gotten that far yet. I did the gondola first. I'm still saving for a canal house.

Those canal houses are not very level and its gonna drive me crazy.

I was eventually able to get all of them, including 2 and 5, to make the sidewalk/terrace, but it involved a lot of trial and error with positioning. They really need to be perfectly aligned with respect to the water. It gets easier once you get it once. One nice thing is that even the non-angled ones will display the terrace on 2 sides if placed at a riverbend.

Also, you have to place water first, then the houses. If you later remove the water the terraces will disappear, and won't reappear if you then put water back in the same place. In this case you need to select the houses in question, move them off their spot and move them back (one motion does it, no need to fully place them, exit edit mode, then edit again).

Side note: the craftables in this event are the best (for me at least) in some time now.

There are 5 different Grand Canal Houses. Craft as many as you want/can and place them in whatever order you wish.

Nothing. It's the same way with the real thing.

I also had problems with this one. As @sideshowmrt2 stated, try to put the river first. And make the river thw same shape as the house. Then try to align the house. Take it only 1 row forth or back at a time and the terrace will appear if you hit the right spot. You don't need more houses for this to work.
