Players are now experiencing a bad glitch in that when they see the shields, leave to go on neighbor visits, and return the shields are gone. This is not a good glitch at all. Not only are YOU losing out on that Gold and Elixr collection, but so is the Attacker that put it there. In order to combat that from now on I would highly suggest to tap on ALL Shields and clear them out. That way YOU and the Attacker are at least getting something vs nothing at all.
--end quote - I've not seen that yet. So I'm sticking to my commitment NOT to tap shields. I'll report back if I have problems. So far, so good.

--end quote - Yet another reason I'm mostly spreading my nerds far and wide. One to a town mostly. If that one town has some issue, like an accidental trip to KL that clears the shields without payment to me or them, or this glitch about trip to neighbors, or anything else that comes up, then I've only lost that one nerd's income.
- Sorry you're having issues. I had an issue when I first upgraded the game. Rebooted my ipad and haven't had a single issue since. Ooops, probably shouldn't have said that.
But having said THAT, my question in my first post was to find out if I was correct about shields. So again, IF THE GAME IS STABLE AND WORKING PROPERLY (like mine is, knock wood) is the potential gain (between neighbors working together and leaving respective shields alone so the houses are destroyed) higher than tapping the shields early?
Thanks for the glitch warning.Neglecterino wrote:

Since the best payouts are from the random Springfields, not your neighbors, the likelihood of doing that is slim to none.

First to your question... No. Because if you and the people visiting you would clear the shields then the buildings would be ready for another hit. With the way it was before this morning, 3 hits on a building defended would get you 30 gold versus the 25 gold won from a random house. And you'd have to wait a long time for that 25 gold, while you don't have to wait at all to defend. And you could defend that same house many times a day. Also it will take longer and longer to win an attack, or use of more nerds. To attack and have it defended cost one nerd. Things are changing though. For many, it is now 5 gold instead of 10 for a defense. Maybe the won attacks will start paying more and that will change the best strategy.
Second, I don't know anyone who does not have the KL glitch. Are you sure you don't have it. Leave just one house with a shield and visit KL. When you get back is that shield gone?- I seem to have some neighbors who are not clearing shields. Unfortunately, this means there is never anything to attack in their towns! If a lot of those houses were attacked by random invaders then most of their good, loyal neighboreenos aren't benefiting at all.

Yet another issue with the leave the shields alone strategy. For it to work at all, you'd have to build a massive farm. And I see people doing just that!Neglecterino wrote:

This is just what I came here to find out - if people were changing strategies yet, and should I forget KL and let my houses be destroyed. (I did recheck KL yesterday with a shield and also a destroyed house. Both disappeared when I came back to SP and my elixir and gold did not increase. Obviously I don't know if the invaders got anything.)
So for now I will continue to clear shields, visit neighbors (that's just me, I like my neighbors), and spend all extra nerds on random towns. I am increasing nerds on the castles in OS to hurry them up a little.
Thanks!graywolfii wrote:

This is exactly why that strategy is flawed.
I mean you don't really need a strategy, just send 1 nerd per attack to neighbours and/or randoms, and tap shields on your own buildings. It will still be enough to get what you need, like i'm already at 13,500 gold and there's still weeks until the end of the event.
