When an item is glitching out, like a fountain or fence sections, to make it stop, I just select it as if I was going to move it, then cancel, and it transforms back into its original form.
I do this as well if a glitch is bugging me. I find some texture glitches pretty entertaining, so I'll let them glitch away :)
Can't think of any other non-glitch-related tips off the top of my head. I usually keep my peeps on 24 hour tasks when there's no event. During events, I don't task them so they're all available for event quests. But during x-mas phase two, I find there's an awful lot of lag - especially when first entering my town - when I have a lot of elves AND my peeps are not on tasks. I found by keeping them all on task, I have little to no lag no matter how many elves I have in town.- The two most helpful things I can think of are the things most people on forum probably know:
1. Turn on donut confirm.
2. Storing a character or an item they're using will cancel a task. Some characters can't be stored, so having them use an item that can be stored guarantees you can always free them up if you need to. - Use the pinned walkthrough threads. They let you know who to keep free to trigger and/or begin the questlines. :)
- I always sign out of my town-origin when there is an App Store update, then update. That way if it's a glitchy update I usually check the forum before I sign in. Been caught too many times in App Store updates that don't work quite right. Another thing I do is I have two towns and visit neighbours in tandem on two devices. It's way faster to collect at the same time then to visit neighbours in one town then visit on second town.
- Buy low sell high?
Always synchronize after buying donuts or premium characters.
And if possible get a screen cap. HWick_Bluenose wrote:

Lol this made me laugh, but when I was way behind the bell chart I always went to bed and drink 2 large
glasses of water, like clockwork I would get up al 4 am, go to the bathroom and collected elves and fired
the cannon, (now I'm back on track) . And hoping to get a full night sleep.- If you're thinking about redesigning your Springfield or Krustyland, look carefully through petergeenen's stickied panorama thread before you work on it. Try to look at each panorama individually--there are 164 towns in the full collection.
There are some incredible ideas in there that will inspire you and are guaranteed to make your work better. - When I visit neighbors I always start at OS and go backwards beginning with z (x in my case). It's easier to hit the left (back) arrow with my left thumb and tap the screen with my right tapping finger as I go through neighbors. I thought everyone did this and wondered why folks would add a 1 (or other number) to their name to get closer to the front of the list. I guess it depends on your device but this works best for me.
