I have posted about how we should have a commenting system in this game. The only problem with that would be if people start cursing out other people (it wouldn't bother me one bit but I'm sure it would to other people) so if they were to do this they would have to block out certain words. Or they should at least add a thumbs up or thumbs down option. I'm not sure if I like the idea of the pins though.

While I like the idea, I can quickly see issues with red pins popping up all over house farms. Most of us know which areas aren't so great - but a way to let your neighbors know what areas you do like is a good idea. Commenting would also be nice, but again, I can see problems arising there as well.

When it comes to ingame-comments though, I have to disagree. If anyone wants to insult someone else, he/she can already do that by sending a PM.

Messaging could cause problems in that it makes it easier for predators to find victims. On the other side of the same equation, not having direct contact or even a way to know who they are, prevents any appearance of impropriety on the part of the overwhelming majority who really are just playing the game. I do however wish there was a way to put comments on your own town, for example to let people know that you're going to be offline for a time but returning in a week or two.I also like the pin idea, but only in pinning things you like. Even aside from house farms, some people just don't care what their town looks like. Some may have a temporary area that hasn't been developed yet. Some may simply have a different aesthetic sense than you. What's the point to potentially hurting their feelings?

If they popped in to get some neighbours and never visited again, PMs are irrelevant. In addition, experience shows me that while people are always likely to insult other users using in-game commenting systems because of their immediacy, they are not so likely to take the time to visit the forum and send an insult via PM.

Pretty much this. As a general rule, I'm not interested in unsolicited comments or opinions. Positive or otherwise.

I am social only to the extent required to maximize my opportunities for success. Thus, I have a full neighbor list.

With that said, I do try to be as good a neighbor as I expect my neighbors to be.

There are a lot of players who really go in for design...and with some awesome results.
There is no way to avoid negativity ..it's a fact of life.
It would be great if some method of show of appreciation could be incorporated in without too much hassle.
There have been many times I've seen a design in someone's Springfield that inspired me to do something similar in my towns.....sometimes players may be flattered by this and sometimes they don't like being copied. Same can be said for any show of appreciation.......I, for one, am flattered if someone likes something about my town and makes it known to me. Some do design to their own satisfaction and it doesn't matter if they know people like it or not.
