I can't see EA doing anything about it, how would they tell? Go through millions of accounts one at a time and see if they tie up with what they have purchased?
It really wouldn't be that hard to review someone's account history and in-app purchases. Do they have more premium content than what their purchases made would allow?
They could also easily limit their search to those accounts that have hundreds of dollars worth of premium items and then make sure those persons have spent the equivalent amount, taking into consideration Donut giveaways and what have you.
I am not sure that would even work as in apps are processed by appple/google/amazon and Ea proberbly don't get a list.
Of course EA gets figures on in-app purchases. It's their game; they're the ones with shareholders here and EA needs to know how TO is doing financially in order to decide if it's worth keeping the game up and running. Not to mention they need this information for all other customer support problems not having to do with hacking ("I purchased X donuts but the game didn't give me them!!") which they most likely get fairly often.
