- 11EEveyHero+You start getting warnings when 3000 away from the limit. The current limit is 11,500.
They are warnings and unless your device starts having issues, you can keep going. The hard limit of 11,500 will not let you place another item until you are back below the limit.
See the Tip Thread for more info on item limits.

I see. Thank you for letting me know and adding the link! I appreciate it :)- 4junk3000New SpectatorIt only matters when you're AT the limit. I am. Its annoying.
There's a finite number of squares on the grid. We should be able to cover every single one with an item if we want.
But i also want large forest patches to conserve tree count, and fence links to reduce fence and wall counts.
I would do a lot more to improve UI/UX from a town building perspective "4junk3000;c-1960126" wrote:

I know :( Every time there is a new event I go back and thin out trees or take borders away (like fences and shrubs). My last resort is to take away all the fences I have on the piers, but I really really really don't want to. Hopefully I can keep it low enough that some of my designs can stay in tact.- I'm pretty sure I'm below the warning level but I wish they had a running count on the side of the screen so I could know for sure

Or at least tell you every thousand items or so...
They do tell you every 150 items once you go past the recommended amount.

Just a suggestion, but I have been replacing some of my smaller multiplier items (example flags @0.25%) with bigger % items (1 jet bike @2% replaces 8 flags @ 0.25%ea)
Ive been doing this for about 2 months now and Ive dropped my item count by about 200 so far. And since its all % items, most of them are hidden anyway, so it doesnt hurt the look of my town"oubouncer;c-1960496" wrote:

Thats what I found confusing, my message says around 8500, not 6600. And I've seen pictures like that so I was wondering if its different for everyone. Either way, thank you for the helpful hints!! I'm trying to keep it at the recommended count or lower.
