I talked to EA today, and as most know when you explode Krustyland you get the amount of land you had in Krustyland, but in land tokens for Springfield. I did not know this however till after I exploded my Krustyland, and only got a handful of land tokens, not 100. They said there was nothing they could do which is really frustrating. I have no space left in my Springfield. I don’t know why they made it so we can’t expand. Makes me want to stop playing as I can’t really go any further with my town. I don’t even have enough land for the new log ride this week.
There were quite a few posts about this early on in the event. I think most users agree that EA could have handled this better, viz., forewarning users about the connection between the size of one’s KL and the number of land tokens parsed out."aCornthwai859;c-1957712" wrote:
If it’s only about game stability, make the squares from now on (the 7rows on the north; and 2 rows on the east) only available by donuts. That way if you need the land, you buy donuts to get it (ie. its financial, so people by buying donuts are actually buying into new servers for the game to expand). But restricting the land, it just upsets their long fan base for the game.
The underlying intent of the new system is to purposely slow down land acquisition. In that context, allowing the purchase of land with donuts wouldn’t make sense. More servers wouldn’t solve the potential stability problem.- lucienleon519Rising RookieThe game can’t keep expanding its town footprint. I’ve got some neighbours whose use of space seems pretty extravagant to me. I’ve been playing since the game was a year old and I haven’t used all my IGC tiles yet.
I’d have even more room if I didn’t have to keep out the SH buildings and however many billboards and news vans. I know it’d suck if I started out designing thinking I’d always have available land to expand into, but tailoring the town design to suit the constraints isn’t that hard. - I dunno. I have been playing for 4 years now, and have had a pretty tight SF, not an abundance of wasted space. If anyone wants to add me and give me suggestions acornthw859, I’m up for it. But I have a very tightly manicured town and would have loved the ability to get 100 free tiles from Krustyland and not just 20. Just saying EA, that’s not really fair.
- Well I think they should have said, he guys Krustyland is going to be gone. For every square of land you have, you will get a land token in SF. People would have got on it and bought land. To not tell anyone that this was the case until it’s too late is yes, not fair. I didn’t completely open up KL because I got all the items and didn’t need to bother. But if I had known we would get free land, of course I would have opened it up. I’m just saying if I had been given the choice to buy land I would have bought it, but I was NOT given the choice to know I needed to do this to get free land tokens.

My story is similar to yours except I managed to get the 100 tiles. I was desperate for more land also. I almost stored some of my painstakingly designed areas in order to free up some land. Luckily for me, I read this forum regularly and was tipped off about needing to acquire all of the KL land squares before nuking. I wouldn't have got anywhere near 100 otherwise.
I really feel for ya. I would feel the same way. They really should have warned people. I can picture them having a good laugh over it while knowing full well how desperate we are for land with the recent miserly distribution of land tokens.
Definitely not victim blaming those unfortunate enough to have been short-changed on land tokens as a result of the nuking process, but I wanted to emphasize something that @mystery2mi mentioned and that is the utility of following the forum posts on various aspects of the game. I would imagine that just about every regular member can point to one or more important tidbits about the game that we picked up here."4junk3000;c-1958037" wrote:
Those who had a complete KL were rewarded.
Those who neglected their KL were not.
Those who read the forum before making big changes were spared.
Land tokens return control of the rate of expansion, to EA. Growth is limited, it always has been.
I hate it, but i understand why. It is what it is. Keep calm and tap on.
it's funny you claim the bolded, even though you yourself sought clarification on another site... and received explicit instructions on what to do, directly from someone who signed the nda, despite lpa saying that was "really the only thing we couldn't absolutely reveal".- lucienleon519Rising RookieThis was the first time that I'd saved up all my daily challenges in advance, stocked up my donut pile and stayed up late local time for the start of the event. I nuked straight away, having no idea that it was irreversible and what the land token implications would be.
I'm going back to the old ways of reading the forum first :) - I hate the stupid land tokens!!! This is my second post about it and I never post about anything!
- It would be really nice if EA gave the same amount of land tokens to everyone.
