Thats the way I see it too. I always give them about 6 weeks - with 8 of an absolute max. I always keep thinking they might have had something terrible happening (e.g. like a car accident) and are not able to play. At least give them the chance to come back and everything is the way it was before.
Makes me think I give them my 2Cents of normality and they will be happy if some neighbors are still there and that not their entire world has collapsed.
