Yup, that's exactly what I did. My town isn't especially well-designed or attractive, but I didn't think it made sense to create a monorail that I'd change/add to every couple of days.
Once the event is done and I have all the track I'm gonna get, then I'll design a 'final monorail'.
I've also just added the pieces to the terminals without much thought. Again, I'll design them better when I know I won't get any more additions.
