There is one difference though: If they had wanted to continue his characters on the show, they would have to let another actor voice him. They don't need that for the game.

His characters were retired out of respect to him. I cant see that they will all of a sudden decide its not worth keeping their respect to him any longer and allowing him to be a character in a game

Surely it is more respectful for his characters to be honoured in a Simpsons game through being included as opposed to them being forgotten? Yes,they shouldn't include them in the show anymore because using a different voice artist would be disrespectful but in a game? I don't see why they can't.

i don`t disagree with you but if he was retired in the show then i would have to say he is retired in the Simpsons universe no matter what the media. Hey maybe i am wrong and they surprise me with one of those characters being released.

Out of respect for Phil Hartman, they retired his characters as opposed to let another actor voice them. The fact that they would have given his characters to another voice actor, if they had chosen to continue the, was the decisive factor here.

That argument doesn't count in a game in which half the characters are unvoiced, anyway. (Also, I'm fairly certain I've seen Hutz in crowd scenes later on.)

Technically. But we didn't know that in August so it was also technically a 12th Doctor announcement.

Also, it would be great if they did add the 4th Doctor and TARDIS to the game. Although I can't see it happening now 23rd November has passed by without it happening.
