The guy at TSTOgame.com said you get a lot more gold and elixir for attacking random towns (and winning) than friend towns.
Here's his numbers:
Attacking a random town
Win vs. castle: 140 elixir, 50 gold
Lose vs. castle: 10 elixir, 2 gold
Win vs. house: 70 elixir, 25 gold
Lose vs. house: 5 elixir, 1 gold
Attacking a friend’s town
Win vs. castle: 25 elixir, 10 gold
Lose vs. castle: 10 elixir, 2 gold
Win vs. house: 18 elixir, 8 gold
Lose vs. house: 5 elixir, 1 gold
