This is why I only use iTunes gift cards for songs and apps. Linking a credit/debit card to an app/music store is just asking for trouble.
It's required to have it on the account though, but I still go through the gift cards and very cautious of my purchases.
It is absolutely NOT required on iTunes. My iTunes account does not have any credit or debit card attached to it. All of my purchases are done solely through gift cards.
Yeah it is, I just bought music 2 weeks ago. I had added a $20 gift card to the account, and said "Please update your payment information with a new credit card (previously linked one was expired long time ago) or a paypal account. It would not let me continue even though I had funds from a gift card.
