Shelbyville: feeling of a wasted opportunity

I always guessed it could have been a great expantion. New area (maybe next to SH) a lot of new buildings, new characters, maybe new game dynamics (characters moving only in "their" hometown, rivalities between them and so on). And what we have? Just copule of decorations for tons of money? Why?? I dont neither know where i should place the Manhattan statue... of course it doesn't make sense in Springfield so, where? I don't feel the need to have it because i don't have a place for it. very disappointing

The only thing that annoys me is the fact you have to pay at least $100 for the statue. Frankly $100 for a decoration is way overpriced. It's the most ridiculous price I've ever seen for a ingame item

For that price it should produce 100 donuts a day and have 500% multiplier.

But don't you get like 2400 donuts for that price? This is like if they sold it as "pay for 2400 donuts, get 300 free (that you immediately have to spend)". Is that fairer or still bad?
  • Maybe they should make a shelbyville for every user when they reach level 100.
Or even better, it following the Statue
    Like krusty land.

Where you can put all the items you dont have space for at the current moment.
Like a warehouse or storage room.
You can call it "The Trash Can area of shelbyville"

But it would take more phone space so... maybe when all users have a Smarter Smart phone with space for it.
that will only take about 15 - 20 years from now :dizzy:

I'm aware you get 2400 donuts with it but it is still expensive

Yeah i get it, its like saying get a free cake with a 50$ purchase, and people are like "what? a 50$ cake what a ripoff!" but its actually a FREE cake with 50$ in purchases, HOWEVER!

The real issue is that it was released late in comparison to the event AND the whole voucher thing.
People obviously (and by that i mean people complained about it) spent donuts the second the voucher deal was released only for this Shelbyville bundle to be released the next day?
Get out of town, thats lame.
Its like saying (using above example)
Get a free cake with any 50$ purchase on December 26, sure you can still eat it, but the whole point is to spend money before the 25th so you can enjoy them ON the 25th, getting it the next day kinda beats the whole point of planning ahead, worse yet was this "deal" was not mentioned before and was considered part of a future event, so nobody was warned ahead that there would be a specific time that would be convenient to buy donuts.

All in all, kinda lame, missed opportunity? VERY, however there is hope that theyll realize its true potential, and perhaps create an event later on, hopefully said items/characters may have benefits in that event (generating currency at higher rate, special questlines, etc.)
Until then, we must wait and see.
  • I was only covering the "costs $100" part, but I agree about the time and the analogy you made. Like, buying a Christmas tree a week before Xmas then stores putting out "spend $100 and get a free tree" on Xmas Eve.... Oh, merry xmas eve everyone!

    It's called business strategy.
