- If this has happened to you repeatedly, maybe you should slow down and pay more attention. Nah, much easier to just rant against EA right?
- First responder - you sound just like EA customer support.
OF COURSE I know about the 'confirm donut spend' option, I've had it turned on for MONTHS. It makes no difference in these accidental donut spends because of the poor design of the donut spend box!!!
As a retired software engineer I know it's just common sense, good design to ALWAYS place the 'confirm' button in a totally different location than the original 'spend' button, because that way the user has to really WANT to confirm enough to move their mouse cursor, stylus or fingertip to a totally new location to confirm the spend. Accidental confirmations rarely happen this way.
I also know that if you're going to provide a 'cancel' option, you need to give the user longer than ONE SECOND to use it.
All I want is my lousy four donuts back, and this is after I've lost easily 20 or more to the accidental double-tap and have spent over $70 in real-world money on donut purchases since July. And EA doesn't want to give me back my lousy four donuts, even though I've only lost them because of EA's (purposely) bad donut spend box design. Mjr1124 wrote:

The longer you play, the more crowded your SF gets and the harder it gets to avoid the double-tap. Add all the ghosts floating around, and it gets harder still.
Now add the fact that as soon as you tap a thumbs up the character just wanders off, making it very easy to lose them in a large, crowded SF. It's because of this that I always feel pressured to immediately assign that character a new task, but when they're surrounded by more thumbs up and dollar signs and ghosts all around, it's nearly impossible to tap the exact thing you want while avoiding everything else.
Now add the fact that the donut spend box is PURPOSELY designed to make the accidental donut-spend confirm commonplace.
I already AM slowing down and I already AM paying attention, but thanks ever so for your totally non-helpful, sarcastic and superior reply. You make the world a better place.- With the confirm button on I've never had an issue. Maybe I'm just more careful. Maybe

I'm being as careful as I can while also trying to cover all my bases, but no matter what I do it seems the game is determined to impose some problem or other on me.
If I don't immediately try to assign a new task to a character, I risk losing track of them. Since I'm at level 36, there are a LOT of characters and when I don't immediately assign new tasks I inevitably end up with some characters wandering around all day doing nothing, simply because they are programmed to wander off as soon as their tasks are done.
If I DO immediately assign new tasks, I'm repeatedly getting the donut spend box because the game design makes it very difficult to tap the specific thing you want to tap when there are a bunch of tappable items (e.g., thumbs up, dollar signs, ghosts, GOO canisters) crowded close together.
So I'm either losing in-game dollars, XP and GOO by NOT immediately assigning new tasks, all of which ultimately leads to me NOT earning more donuts, or I'm losing donuts I already have due to the accidental double-tap on the badly designed donut spend box. The confirm button should NOT be in the same spot as the spend button. If it weren't for that ONE thing, this would NEVER have happened to me.- Just turned my "confirm" button on and then I tapped away and no donut spending! It works great.

What about when you've got 4-6 tappable items all crowded close together first thing in the morning, with your very crowded Springfield?
Look, I'm not saying it's a totally unavoidable thing, I'm saying it's FAR TOO EASY to accidentally spend donuts when you don't want to, even when you're actively TRYING to avoid spending them, and there are some simple changes EA could make to totally eliminate the problem.
I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO IS HAVING THIS PROBLEM, AND I'M SURE EA KNOWS FULL WELL THAT A BIG CHUNK OF THE DONUTS BEING SPENT ARE BEING SPENT ACCIDENTALLY DUE TO THE WAY THE DONUT SPEND BOX IS DESIGNED.
And I'm no less sure that's exactly how they want it, to lure players into more donut purchases. When a game design flaw causes problems for significant numbers of players, and the flaw is very easy to fix, and one of the affected players complains about the problem, why pile onto / blame the player?- I have never had this problem sence the auto confirm button! An Iam never careful going threw tapping! This is interesting it happens to you!

My town is crowded especially with ghosts haunting the buildings. After turning the confirm button on I tapped like crazy and I've gotten the warning box. It takes away my tapping time cause I read it and said no to spending donuts various times.
Turn it on. Hopefully it helps you as well.- OP you need to stop acting like it's EA's fault that YOU spent the donuts. It is YOUR fault. Maybe if you didn't rush it and paid more attention this wouldn't happen. I'm level 36 have loads of characters, buildings around etc but i never have any problems.
