- I only started taking decorations down after I noticed that my friends were done, or nearly done with the Christmas tasks, and that they had gone back to vandalizing and tapping stores instead of houses much like I had. Of course most if not all of my friends are at my level not just in XP but also in building ownership. Given our experience with the Halloween event where we kept collecting treats with no payout at the end it's not surprising that a lot of people chose to either take down their decorations or stop playing altogether so let's not assume that because a person took down their decorations early that they're necessarily being inconsiderate of their friends. Some players simply move at a much more rapid pace than others due to experience and game advancement (even without the help of donuts to speed through) which is why it's always more convenient to maintain friends who are progressing at the same level and speed. I stopped going out of my way to collect coins ages ago and I still managed to get 59 donuts and 13 reindeer today, plus I added some decor back so that any one of my friends who wants to start collecting again can do so through the 10th.
As for the decline in game tapping, I find that friends who haven't logged in in 3 days or more cause way more crashing issues than anyone who farms or has lots of trees, decor, etc., which is why a couple of days ago I had to go back and delete anyone who hadn't played in a while. Once they were gone my game stopped crashing and I was able to add some new friends who had some interesting towns and premium stuff, if that even works (I'm not doing the math.) It wasn't my intention to delete anyone but if your lack of playing and, therefore, game updating is going to crash my game each time I log in or try to visit my friends' towns then you need to go. It sucks because I know a lot of people are traveling and enjoying their holidays but I find playing STO a perfect alternative to the usual holiday family dysfunction so I didn't want to deal with the constant crashing anymore. ;) tmacs2008 wrote:
I think this Stocking deal caught alot of people by surprise. I leave mine up because thats what I do in real life. If I go to all the trouble to decorate; I want to enjoy it for as long as socially tolerable. Tree comes down end of January. But your point is very valid that people should at least honor the promotion to the end. I dont think that would be impinging on individual creativity.
Leave one of each type of house up. It doesn't hurt anything and then the coins can be collected from any of that type of house. It is what I did (other than the brown houses, Cletus Farm, and Muntz house because I think they look cool decorated and will stay up year 'round).- what i don't get is why people take down their decorations because they don't need it ? it's only a matter of 10-15 taps from all your decorated santa coins, so why need to take it down ? just make all the decorated synced in one time and you can take it fast like a matter of 5 second is enough, and you guys thinking that waste of time ? i really don't get it at all. i still put up all the decor and still taking from all my neighbours even after i already finished till SLH, in the end i got about 2k extra coins, i can understand if you don't want you "characters" do any christmas task because the long hour and only santa coins payout that you don't know if it gonna be useful or not but as for decorations i don't understand why the need to take it off since it just generated once every 24 hours and don't interfere with any hour cash generating house at all..

To be fair, i have seen a decline of tapping on my Springfield after the 20th...
That was the case for me as we'll, but it's picked up a ton since yesterday! :Pkgirl32 wrote:
You know for Easter we'll all be collecting chocolate bunnies as if our lives depended on it and they will just *poof* disappear at end of the promo!
Yeah, I definitely think this is a one-off, in the spirit of the holiday season, we narrowly avoided the fiscal cliff type of thing.vvinzent wrote:

Some people didn't find them aesthetically pleasing, others don't celebrate the holiday and would rather not participate, and some were even trying not to be annoying by keeping the coin count up seeing as no one expected the mystery stockings given past holiday events. Different strokes for different folks.- Do remember all the excess halloween treats just disappeared without getting anything back, so this santa coin thing is new to us.
- i dont understand why you would take them down anyways its part of the winter season we leave them up all winter
it looks nice and keeps the mood but like nancalmei said different strokes for different folks - People just need to admit that they're a bunch of greedy f*ckers who not only want but feel entitled to free donuts and who would otherwise not care about a town's lack of or excessive holiday decorations except for the few who are firm faux 'war on Christmas' believer types who don't recognize other religious beliefs including that of no religion. Personally, I'm sick of the Christmas season, it started the day after Halloween and hasn't let up. I think the snow shows enough wintery-ness now that the holidays have passed but I won't have a stroke if someone chooses to have Xmas lights still up in July. I'll help people get even more coins through promotion end but then off they go once again. This whole pointing the finger at a user's alleged selfishness and avarice for lack of decoration without recognizing your own sin of greed is getting old.
