Lol that was an awesome episode we need Springfield universityjae_bazz wrote:
I've seen people mention in other threads that they use some sort of chart/tracking system to keep their TSTO experience organized. This idea seems appealing to me because, well, I love an excuse to make a spreadsheet.
My question is this: what system do you use? Normally I would use Evernote for this kind of information, but I can't run both that & TSTO on my iPad at once. Do you flip back & forth between programs? Do you use two devices at once? Do you write it down on paper & then pop it into the spreadsheet when you're done playing?
Help me, fellow nerds!
I play tsto on my tablet so I visit the forums on my phone and also plan. My advice is you can do what a few others do and plan it out on paper first or if you can use another device- I use old-fashioned yellow "legal" pads of paper

Those aren't bad ideas! Although I might feel really foolish sitting around with both my phone & my tablet put just to play a game, so I might have to go the paper route. :-)- mwdaltonNew Spectator

I spreadsheet, I usually have Excell open on my laptop, while tapping away at my Ipad.
Mine is set up so I have all the usernames catergorized alphabetically then colour coded. Yellow is forum regular, blue is up and coming forum regular, gray is personally requested my friendship, but does not fall into the above. Pink is family and friends IRL and white is un catergorized.
I also track activity, who I've visited, when and who visits me. If someone hasn't visited in a while, and there is an event on, I can pretty well garuntee who's no longer active. Outside of events, I slack off and everyone gets less scrutiny :p
Lmao @ 'up-and-coming forum regular' - I know I said I keep a vigilant lookout on my my neighbours, but a spreadsheet is a bit much for me. I need to be able to adapt, not only with new neighbours, but with new game dynamics. I prefer just a normal list of names, that I colour code. At the beginning of an event I reset all the names to black. Then as soon as I see you visit me, I change your name to red. That's about it. Doesn't matter if you only visit me once each event. I just want to know if you have visited me lately. I won't bother keeping track of you after that.
Of course my list has a pecking order of guide followers, forum regulars, and the rest. In this event, all that really matters is to have friend's houses to tap. So when the rest haven't visited, they tend to be the first to go. - mwdaltonNew SpectatorNice to see where you draw the line, colour coding=ok, spreadsheets=too far

Exactly. :D I just don't think a spreadsheet is flexible enough to evolve with the game, without structural changes.- blackgryphon9999Seasoned NoviceActually, I have a home-grown database application that I use to track neighbors. I use it to record who has visited each day. Then I can display reports and graphs showing what neighbors have (or haven't) done. I don't track everyone every day all the time. Once every few months I track neighbors for a week or so. If they haven't visited in that week, then I usually drop them and go find some replacement neighbors.
It was a lot of fun to develop the application as well. (If I tell you the specific software I used, I might give away my identity, so I think I won't...) - I wish this game was available for Windows 8. Then I could play it on my tablet and snap a notepad app next to it. Much better multitasking functionality. This iPad is great for games, but i miss multitasking like I can on my Windows 8 tablet.
