To everyone saying "Final update - this is over" (SPOILER)

Thanks LP! :D
  • I'm hoping this means that events will utilize more characters, since newer players will be able to get characters on a more "as needed" or choice basis, then events can have more depth, and some current "high level" characters can actually be used for more than just their level update
  • Events make you care a lot more about really bit characters. I wish they would move some of that limited time premium stuff to the permanent store (Brandine and the Monorail come to mind).

Yes we will get new levels but they will be more like bragging rights, not content laden like before. Kinda like CoC
    levels.

This also means that everything will be limited time outside of the core block of Level Content.

Why would it mean that? There's no reason to expect that.

Kinda, notice how i use the word "Kinda" emphasis on it, we've discused this before.

Generally speaking a level somewhat guarantees a new character, if you reach that level today, tomorrow or in 6 months you'll get that character no fuss, no muss no strain about grinding.

Event based is different, i do enjoy that they made Gummy Joe available in every act however once the event is gone he is gone, until he is offered again, problem is next time he is offered there is no guarantee that he will remain Freemium.

It is possible for some content to be made general kinda like Jesse Grass, ever since that Redwood update he was made available to all (right? someone correct me if im wrong) unfortunately this doesnt apply to all things.

I play various games that make past content available for new and old players alike there is a catch though:
Only for annual events, one of events? Nope not unless it has to do with the "main plot"
Holiday, or some other ingame Annual or made up ingame holiday? Yup everything remains the same level and the same price (very important) anything that was free or cost ingame currency stays the same, anything costing real world currency stays the same (thus free things or things that cost ingame currency are not returned as costing "real world currency")
Its one of my favorite aspects of those games, there are rare trophies that the cr?me de la cr?me enjoy, previous trophies that will never be released, the items and events that are enjoyed by all though......why restrict it?

Since the same handful of characters are used by pretty much every single event, quest, crafting task, side quest, etc. allowing players to play old and new events simultaneously would have no ill effect, if anything they will not obtain all items by spreading themselves so thin, they may even cave in and buy donuts to rush things.....

Long story short, no more characters from level updates means that the characters from events will last only as long as the event lasts, therefore making them "limited time" by default, sure they may return like an old Gil Deal, but is it really Guaranteed?
    Nope.
