It is not only the two characters free, I would have paid donuts for these ! It is the chance based event, the one that no matter what you do, or how much time or money you spend, you are absolutely not guaranteed to get what you want, and see that others can have the same thing more easily. I have worked hard on this event, played every evening (like all the evening) and I should not be here, as frustrated as I am, almost begging to be able to purchase these characters, even though I spent 100 donuts.
So BRAVO Annettemarc for this initiative, I will write my own comments on that game.
but you are wrong. every prize is guaranteed after 81 boxes.
might be expensive but that is the most you would ever have to open to get everything. so technically look at it like that's how much those items cost and you might get lucky and not have to spend that much and you might get them sooner.MaxxSpider wrote:

who care about those reviews

I can totally hear EA saying the same thing
I think they might care more what people say than i do
although the Easter event was a bit of a let down being everything was chance based it doesn't take away from the fact that i enjoy this game and it is basically the only game i play (aside from when a new Zelda game is released)
am i a little upset i didn't get 2 characters for free? sure, but it wont stop me from playing the game. i could have spent donuts on golden eggs to try to get the characters but at the end of the day there are other characters i have not purchased that i want way more than hugs bunny and sherry bobbins so i will save my donuts for what i really want.
Good way to look at the game mate :) Granted it is only a game and I shouldnt care whether i get all the items but i JUST have too
i understand the completionist mentality and you guys are screwed because EA can do whatever they want and you guys will pay (300 Donut whale).
Guilty as charged - All I am reading are SELF ENTITLED CHILDREN who think that EVERYTHING should be free. Get OVER YOURSELVES. When you first start this game you have NOTHING. As you level up you get TONS of free stuff, and of course as you start getting in the higher levels, you are going to slow down. As a "free to play" game, with the OPTION to spend real money to get other items, TSTO has BY FAR got the best free stuff out there and the most of it as well. You guys are VERY LUCKY that they didn't level cap it or not allow full access to all the features like other games do unless you pay real money.
I really do not understand how ANYONE thinks that EA, or anyone OWES them better chances because they CHOSE to spend money for donuts to take a CHANCE and then complain, NOT BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T WIN ANYTHING, BECAUSE YOU WIN EVERYTIME, BUT BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T GET THE PRIZE THEY WANTED.
The only way that EA can keep giving us level updates, buildings, etc. is due to those players who DO spend money. If everyone just quit doing that, then the game would go even slower as the updates, buildings, and characters would stop. All this whining and crying has got to stop. It's sad that you guys/gals come on here and actually complain because you want everything NOW, NOW, NOW, and if by some chance you don't get it, you want to blame something that is behaving EXACTLY how it should. Think about it, if you were guaranteed all the prizes, and you had gotten them early in the event, what incentive would you have to play? Why not with these events EA just say "OK, here is the Easter Event, here are 7 new characters, 3 buildings, and 50 fences, keep playing!" Sounds kind of dumb, huh?
As for the people saying that it takes $100's of dollars to complete the event, NO IT DOES NOT. I have used 50 donuts TOTAL on this event and have EVERY unique item minus Shary Bobbins, and actually have 7 Kodos topiarys, and 8 Kang topiarys which are 15 donuts each, which would have been 225 donuts if bought outright. I also have gotten 4 baskets from boxes, so there is another 40 donuts. Not to mention that the characters if they costed donuts would be 60-90 donuts each, so all in all, not too bad of a return on investment. Considering some building WITHOUT characters are 120+ donuts, we made out REALLY GOOD this event.
Also nobody FORCED you to spend donuts. It all boils down to people being impatient and not wanting to wait. I did just fine collecting eggs, and with only 24 friends, I still had PLENTY of boxes to open and get all the prizes. I cleared my common and uncommon egg boxes the first week. Some may not have been so lucky, but in all reality WHO CARES. If you get stuff for FREE, why does it matter? hondab16tune wrote:

Blah, blah, blah, blah.
Nobody is saying everything should be free. But in a market economy, things should be reasonably priced, and if customers think that a vendor's wares are overpriced, they are perfectly right to complain and withhold their business.
And contrary to your rant, it was impossible (or as highly improbably to make the distinction irrelevant) to get Sharry Bobbins without spending donuts.Roccaine wrote:

Been saying the same thing for most of the part. I've been playing World of Warcraft since it came out and while the game is pretty expensive (with monthly sub and all) you still need to be incredibly patient with all the RNG in dungeons and raids. Sometimes you spend a whole 4 hour raiding for 1 item you really want to get, but never drops. It can be pretty frustrating and this is a game I pay monthly for, but I don't complain that I want to have all the items either. Try to earn them, even if its chance based.
wow somebody actually read this essay

Really not liking the self entitled children jab. The majority of MY bad app store review has more to do with game functionality than anything else. This convoluted event is merely icing on the cake.
I've been trading out my common color eggs in for uncommon from day one in hopes of obtaining the Blocko store. We're mere hours from the event ending and I haven't gotten it yet.
I would gladly and without reservation, drop dough (nuts) to get the Blocko store. But I absolutely will not pay to MAYBE get the Blocko store. As a consumer, I have the right to know what I'm paying for. I think for most people complaining about this event, that is the crux of the problem.
When EA decided to turn this game into a casino, that was just too much. They have many players willing to pay good money to play, as evidenced by $100 million it brought in last year. That $100 million was made with events that didn't include outright gambling. This new gambling style event is a cash grab and nothing more.
What's more, this new style of event is using your own brain chemistry against you. When you open a box and you see Sherry Bobbins cruise by 4 times, it makes you think you were close to getting her, when in reality you really had no chance (just like a slot machine). When you get close, your brain releases dopamine. The dopamine then re enforces the experience, making you want to do it again.
There have been many instances of players buying eggs and having nothing to show for it. And they keep doing it! Because it's how your brain works. For many this game boarders on addiction. Add gambling into the mix, and we may have some serious problems ahead of us.
FWIW - I spent the last of my purchased pink sprinklies on the CCL and that's it until things change. I didn't purchase any eggs, and if that means i don't get the Blocko store, then so be it. EA doesn't have to go back to the old style events but they definitely have to come up with something other than this. As a marketing strategy, this event is ingenious. But it actual practice, it just takes advantage of the players.- I know everyone wants to get feedback to EA - but this feedback also goes to potential new players. If new players read your feedback and dont join, then it will eventually lead to the end of this game. Your upset about an event that is one moment in time. Be careful who your intended audience is.

Then you fail at basic reading comprehension.
There are premium things that are not free. That's fine. They're LABELED as such.
There are things that just cost time in game. Also good, also labeled as such.
Then there are things labeled as prizes for "collecting eggs." Some are that, some are actually premium items advertised as something else. It's dishonest. That's the whole problem with this event. They could have just released those "prizes" with the seven other premium items released this event, but instead they disguised them as free.
Also, ongoing security issues that make spending your money an even greater risk. But who cares, right? It's the customer's own fault for buying and the company shouldn't take any responsibility for any flaws in the product or dishonest advertising.neuroheart wrote:

NAILED IT
THANK YOU- I spend a lot of money on this game, over $100. I anm a day one player.
When Tapped out started it was a fun city simulator where you had the choice of buying premium stuff, with an exact price. All events were able to complete (although the wheels were a little tricky) within the time if you gave it effort.
I always buy the cool premium stuff that helps you collect (not lottery tickets, like the eggs now). So I usually finished an event on time, with enough time to rearrange my Springfield and enjoy it.
IT'S BEEN LIKE THAT FOR 2 YEARS. IF YOU THEN CHANGE AN EVENT SYSTEM COMPLETELY WHERE IT SUSDDENLY BECOMES VERY DIFFICULT OR IMPOSSIBLE TO COMPLETE- IT IS LOGICAL PEOPLE WILL COMPLAIN.
Now it has only been completed by ( a few) people that got very lucky or spend various amounts of donuts. So some get it all for free and the unlucky ones have to spend money- one far more then the other. I spend donuts too, but still no luck. You call that fair? If all the stuff was able to buy as well, you wouldn't hear any complaints. Now you had to put in a lot of effort (more then any previous events) to make a chance on a price.
Always winning?
Well, if like me you're having 49 fences, there is no joy to 'winning'. Or having done a lot of effort to get gold eggs and get rewarded a pink eggs box. Whoever thought of that idea for a prize at EA should be fired. And getting fewer eggs by trading, with minimal baskets in 50(!)other friends-towns. The last two weeks I've had no baskets. I have 50 friends, yet yesterday I couldn't trade pink eggs anywhere. The carrot growing doesn't always bring bunnies (AND YES I CLEARED SPRINGFIELD FIRST OF BUNNIES BEFORE TAPPING). And of course, still no Fabrege egg, while some of my freemium friends do. Good for them, but I hoped as a loyal premium spender I would get lucky too.
I had to add new friends as 20 of the friends I have had from the beginning, decided that this event is so horrible, they decided quit the whole game...
Games should be fun to play- and Tapped out can be fun- but this event... A lot of effort ( AND SPEND MONEY!) which lead to frustration and dissapointment. If I want to play a chance based game, i'll go to a casino.
And EA? They just don't respond to all the complaints on the forum here. There was a time where they realised the goal was set too high during an event (with the community prices) and they changed it. Now they stay silent. If the majority of your consumers is not enjoying the game (and even leave the game) it is time to take action and respond.
