- a little too big brother for me. If people dont play for weeks i purge them. Otherwise I dont expect lvl 48 players to visit me daily during non events
- Honestly, I stopped visiting friends since getting the latest FP prizes. Sure, you can win the occasional free donut, but I'm too busy(/lazy) to go through my entire list for 'em.
Likewise, I don't care if players visit me or not during quieter times. If there's an event or FP level on I'll expect the occasional visit (as I try to help out others as well at these times), but outside of that I don't care either way. I have a number of short-term buildings for them to get FPs off.
I'll only do a cull pre-Event (eg. to get those who haven't played/levelled up in the last few weeks/month), and one a few days after the start (to remove those who haven't started it). - wadebearRetired HeroSo here's an idea...
How about a little check mark appears on their town in the neighborhood or on the name tag (upper left corner) within the town to show that they have visited you in the last 24 hours? wadebear wrote:
I currently have so few buildings I'm surprised I haven't been dumped by half my friends. I have a small Brown House farm, but some days I just can't get into the game often enough. I can never seem to generate enough cash to buy all the buildings the game offers me as I level up.
The game needs some task or building (like Cletus' farm) that lets you build up your cash without gaining experience. Yes, I know... They want you to buy cash with donuts... Not. Gonna. Happen.
There's two tricks to house farming (which as far as I can tell is still the most efficient way to get cash): 1. Get a mixture of houses to avoid dropping your multiplier, 2. Work out how often you can reliably log in to tap them, and make most of your houses have payout times about that time or a little less. If you're a morning-and-evening tapper, blue houses are usually the best bet as they're always good for two taps a day and sometimes you can even squeeze in three. And they're not too pricy per house, so it's easy to get started.2006MudFlap wrote:
Good to see so,e feedback I'm surprised that at the time of this writing 6 people are opposed to the idea entirely. I doubt it will get implemented but just a suggestion.
I think that part of the reason why you didn't get a bigger response is because of all the glitches we've had to deal with during the life of this game. Personally, I've been playing for almost a year (started the week after Christmas last year), and I can't even begin to tell you how many times I've been kicked out of my neighborhood screen. There have been times when days, even weeks have gone by without being able to visit my neighbors. (Thankfully, lately, I haven't had this problem). What you're proposing would be unfair to those who can't visit due to no fault of their own. (Check the threads that discuss this type of glitch. You'll find that MANY players are affected by it.)
The only time when this might've come in handy was during the Halloween event. Not so much as a way to keep track of how long between visits, but just a way to let us know that we had visitors, at all. The only way to tell that a neighbor had visited, was if they dropped an egg. That made no sense to me! (Personally, I dropped up to 5 eggs per neighbor, if they had room.)
Plus, like LinkWick stated, many players just aren't as active between events. I used to be more of a stickler about neighborly visits. But after playing for close to a year, I've gotten to know some of my neighbors' playing habits. There are those who don't play as often between events, but during events they're awesome and I know I can count on them. I'm not about to fault them on the off-season. (Like I said, this is something that came with time. I actually feel guilty about the ones that I dropped during my early days!! I wish I could get them back. )
I used to keep a spreadsheet, as well. But after all the times I've been kicked out of my neighborhood screen, and because of all the neighbors I've lost due to no fault of my own, I stopped keeping one. Now, if 3-4 weeks go by, or there's no activity at all during events, that's when I tend to cut ties. Otherwise, I just go with the flow and hope I'm reading the situation correctly. :)wadebear wrote:

Never buy cash for donuts. They dont want you to do that - they actually discourage it by making the exchange so lopsided. Be patient and enjoy the ride. At some point you will catch up and wish you had more to do.- I visit my neighbors every day unless the timer gets pushed too late at night and I have to skip a day to reset it to morning. I keep most of my short time houses and buildings available for my neighbors to tap and since I play many times a day I'm able to keep clearing them when neighbors tap them. I like keeping a mental tally of which neighbors visit my town (I keep written notes during events if it's important) but I'm mostly interested in keeping track of which neighbors don't have anything for me to tap when I visit their towns. I'd much rather see how long it's been since they logged in under their names or have a leaderboard similar to the THOH one where you are scored based on how often you visit and how many things are available to tap in your own town. This way I could easily keep track of which neighbors are consistently at the bottom of that list and get rid of them.

I'm a "Whenever I have time" tapper, so it's really not a question of scheduling for me. Today I've had time to repeatedly set my characters on 1 hour tasks (I'm sick) - other days I'll set them on 8, 12, or 24 because I know I won't have time.
Of course the real problem goes back to cash flow. Every time I build my cash up a little a new building becomes available that's part of a quest or level up, then I wind up spending all my cash on it (currently saving up for Wolfcastle's Mansion and the Crypto Barn).
Then I have to buy some more land to put the buildings in...
I know how long it takes to build the Squidport tile by tile so every time I complete one I start another, and that's also taking big bites out of my cash flow...
