Wandering Otto

I noticed this too. What I found is that you need to wait for Otto to finish celebrating his finished task before reassigning him. The best way to do this is reassign Otto last. This gives him a chance to finish his celebration animation and should fix your problem.

Also, had the same problem with Grandpa Simpson.

Are you having this problem even if you have placed a section of road in front of the store? He seems okay in mine ...

Oh ya, roads help too.

I did find it funny that both Otto and Grandpa Simpson were having this problem because they are both absent-minded characters in the show. It would make sense that they would have a hard time adapting to some new quests :mrgreen:

a road helps severely, but he has lots of lag before he starts a job in general. So he's always a few seconds off for me.

Grandpa has the starting lag too (even with the road), so his timer is typically off as well.

Without a road, Otto would cross back through the tunnel, then turn around to go back, sometimes being gone for the whole 30 seconds. Grandpa had similar behavior.

I put the road down thinking it would contain the characters after completed jobs, wasn't trying to fix the lag (which it helps with it - after I put it down).

I have all the characters for the first 2 places, and just missing Willie right now (others are locked). I'm up to the Pharmacy and blocked getting the theater until I hit 28M in real estate.

Ack, thanks for this post! This is driving me NUTS! He keeps throwing off the synchronicity of the Shop tasks.

I mean, I know he indulges in, umm, oregano, but really. Get it together, dude.

I'm just glad that other people are feeling my same annoyance. I was worried I was going to get a ton of responses about how I'm being a negative nancy or something ;)

Yeah, I noticed this too. Seems to me like he's got enough "water pipes," and maybe should have a different task in there!

Does anybody else's Otto wander around before going to buy imported "water pipes", because it is started it annoy me because it knocks the crafting out of sync.

Adding a road in front of the building reduces the amount of lag/wandering. Not 100%, but much better than without.
