No I've not had this happen.
When the job is ready to collect, I tap the building (not the chair icon at upper left), they all celebrate.
Then while building task box is still open, I immediately tap start 6 times, they all resume immediately.
I've done this dozens of times today. In fact i sacrificed getting Barney to buy Otto just today. I've since realized he isn't that critical though. But the bus looks great in my HS parking lot so it's all good.
