what to do with so many elves?

I'm at level 7 as well. At first my elfcount was rising, but now it's dropping with every cannonblast.

I don't think there's something as to many elves... they're just a means to collect bells which actually bring in the prizes.

Our situation is certainly unique, and I understand that.

How does this relate to elves, exactly?

Not getting nearly enough elves. Level 8 cannon will be cool in 2 minutes and I have 59 elves. Town is clear.

1 elf every 5 minutes would equal 12 an hour, not 30...

Actually the 2nd part was correct because you get to shoot 10 per shot prior to upgrades. so 6 x 3 x 10 = 6 x 30 = 180 was correct. However I have ran some more math and figured out how I have extras. I have lost some time throughout the event so far which puts me at 4 time per day average so far instead of 6. I suspect this will catch up to me soon and I'll be in the same boat. To toss in some more math here 144 is ideal for 12 per shot, 3 shot sets, and 4 sets per day.

My elves are slowly decreasing. I used to always have 200ish before firing some.
Now I'm cannon level 9, which means every 3 hours I shoot 33 elves out. I'm slowly dropping in the amount of elves I have, I now have about 115-20. I hope I can collect more and not get below 100 at any point.

I wonder if this is a glitch. I have less than 40 elves right now.

After the corrections to my math from my original errors due to lack of sleep, the results make a sort of sense. It seems to me that the developers figure most people can't or don't check in as frequently as some of us do. The most elves per shot is 13 (39 per set of 3 shots). Max elves possible 6 x 24 = 144 (from spawns) and 4 x 3 = 12 (from tunnel). This works out to be exactly 4 sets of 3 shots at 39 per set. This indicates to me they figured most everyone would only check in 4 times a day. Since that fits how things have been going for me currently; and I'm ahead of the daily bells needed as a result; I'm not seeing any reason to need to be able to fire the cannon as frequently as possible. I believe that there are some including me who are/were concerned that not being able to fire it as often as possible would mean not getting enough bells to get all the prizes. I estimate average per day from elves shot we will get 11 elves x 5 bells x 3 shots x 4 daily sets = 660 bells. At least 330 from tapping friends. 33 from daily login (per day average of the 5 day cycle). Tapping friends canon or tunnel net an extra 5 bells per tap and clearing a friends tap of your cannon or tunnel net an extra 5 bells each. At most 33, in any combination, of those would be the most you need to meet the daily bells. Sorry for the side trip in math for bells.
