Not only does the XP counter lose track if you survive getting a bunch of XP over somewhere between 3 and 4 million, where it loses track of at least one round of rewards you earned and it pays you at...

If you can keep the total you earn under 2 mil and wait for rewards. If you can't, say tapping SkyFinger which holds back some XP, then afterwards collect just enough tasks to tip the counter over and get it as low as possible - I aim for under 50k - and than pop to friends towns as a precaution against Bart. You'll likely end up with a reset counter and one bonut round but it's better than having it happen when you get close, say 999,000, and that all goes to waste !!
