UFC 5 Plays Better on PS5 than Xbox Series X
Hey everyone,
I just wanted to share my thoughts after putting hours into UFC 5 on both the PS5 and Xbox Series X. I played on the same exact TV and wired internet connection, side by side. There are some clear differences. Simply put, UFC 5 runs and plays noticeably better on the PS5.
Latency & Lag
On Xbox Series X, I consistently sit in the upper 70ms ping range. The difference isn’t just numbers—it’s real-time input lag. Movement feels delayed, combos don’t come out as crisply, and overall gameplay feels sluggish.
Meanwhile, on PS5, ping is usually in the low 40s, and the gameplay feels much more responsive. I can time strikes better, make reads faster, and transitions feel natural instead of forced.
Controller Feedback (Haptics)
The PS5 DualSense controller really shines here. The haptic feedback gives each movement and impact a unique feel—you can literally sense the difference between a jab, a leg kick, and a takedown.
The Xbox controller, while solid in its own right, just doesn’t deliver that level of immersion. The vibration feels generic and less in-sync with the game.
Server Stability & Matchmaking
Match quality is more consistent on PS5, plain and simple. Less lag, fewer disconnections, and faster matchmaking times.
On Xbox, I’ve had more stutters, unpredictable delay mid-fight, and a handful of matches drop entirely. Again—same internet, same setup. Something’s just not as optimized on the Xbox side.
UFC 3 Has More Features Than UFC 5
After all this, I actually went back and booted up UFC 3 just to compare. And honestly, it made me realize how barebones UFC 5 feels in terms of features.
UFC 3 had way more depth in terms of weapons in the clinch and ground (e.g., hammer fists from top mount, Thai clinch knees and elbows against the cage, etc.). Fighters felt like they had actual weight and impact, and the game had a better overall polish.
It’s crazy that two generations later, the newer game has fewer features, and has dumbed down the submission mini-game and clinch/ground control systems.
EA seriously needs to use UFC 3 as a reference point for UFC 6. That’s the standard they should be building on—not scaling back from.
