Break the 1997-2011 class down to smaller ones

I feel the 1997-2011 class needs to be completely replaced with three different classes. The current class has 12 cars that span 14 years and some tech advancements and regulation changes. From a competition point of view, it's completely pointless to take anything but the 2007-2011 cars.

I propose we do it like this:

1997-2000
SEAT Cordoba WRC
Subaru Impreza WRC 1998
Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI

2001-2006
Citroen Xsara WRC (this will need slowing down to be better balanced)
Ford Focus RS WRC 01
Peugeot 206 WRC
Skoda Fabia WRC
Subaru Impreza WRC 2001

2007-2010
Citroen C4 WRC
Ford Focus RS WRC 08
Subaru Impreza WRC 2008

2011
Mini John Cooper Works WRC

Of course, there would still be some balance issues within the classes, but it could give each group its time in the spotlight, rather than what we have currently.

Also pretty please can we have an Octavia WRC for 2001-2006? 🙂

  • I second this, but I think 1997-2006 and 2007-2011 should be the classes, and not split into 4 groups. I think 97-06 are close enough together to compete with each other. That being said, please bring the Octavia WRC into the game. Maybe even other World Rally Cars such as the Hyundai Accent and, if a miracle occurs with Toyota, the Corolla WRC.

Agree, but I think it might be better if it were done this way:

    1997-2004
    SEAT Cordoba WRC
    Subaru Impreza WRC 1998
    Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VI

    Ford Focus RS WRC 01
    Peugeot 206 WRC
    Subaru Impreza WRC 2001

    Citroen Xsara WRC

    2005-2010

Skoda Fabia WRC (listed as 2005 model in game, and the Fabia competed regularly in private hands in the WRC until 2007)
    Citroen C4 WRC
    Ford Focus RS WRC 08
    Subaru Impreza WRC 2008

2011-2016 (only if the class is to be expanded, else put this in 2005-2011)
    Mini John Cooper Works WRC

This way there's scope to add more late-00s WRC cars without spreading the classes too thinly; there's already a lot from the early WRC era (though I wouldn't complain if we got more!)
