ThanksI tested this with the 3 most recent NVIDIA drivers (making sure to allow for any supposed shader compilation work to take place) mostly because they've all been perfectly stable for me, and I wanted to rule them out as a possible cause. I also tested the game at every single graphics settings "Grouping", meaning low, medium, high etc, and in windowed mode, borderless fullscreen, and fullscreen. I also tested having my Shader Cache size set to default, and unlimited in NCP, just to see if that made any difference.
My results didn't differ, regardless of which driver I used. The stuttering was also present regardless of the graphics settings, though it does seem to be location related. Running in Sweden I saw very minor stutter, unless I hit something solid, and then there's a spike in CPU usage, and a massive frame drop to the high teens. Running in Mexico saw massive frame rate and frame time spikes, regardless of speed, or impacts with solid objects.
Testing the difference between borderless, fullscreen etc yielded no notable improvement. Obviously borderless fullscreen, and fullscreen do seem to suffer less than windowed mode, though that shouldn't be a surprise. The final thing I tried was to open up NVIDIA Control Panel, and in the "Manage 3D Settings" menu, go down to "Shader Cache Size" and set if from the default to "Unlimited". I did this at the direction of someone on the EA forums, and though I cannot be certain, this did seem to alleviate some of the worst stuttering, regardless of location.
All-in-all it seems as though this patch did very little beyond possibly fixing some of the minor issues the game has. Codemasters need to do a thorough assessment of the Shader Compilation issue, and put out an ACTUAL fix, not whatever it is they claimed was a fix. The CPU usage issue would also seem to me to be an issue of serious importance, given that it very clearly has an impact whenever there's a collision for the physics engine to process.
I've given them more leeway here than I would give almost any other studio, not because I'm a fanboy, but because this is the first time Codemasters have tried making a game like this in Unreal Engine, and coupled with the apparent loss of a large number of the original Dirt series developers during the EA buyout, there are bound to be issues. I sincerely hope, however, that these issues are short-lived.
System specs.

WD Blue 1TB NVMe SSD for games
All hardware at stock speeds, no over-volting, all drivers and OS are up-to-date and stable.- @Grace_Tactical Stuttering i don't think it'll get fixed properly anytime soon sadly
I've noticed small improvements since the patches were done, but on PS5 there is still performance issues especially in Mexico, Monte which are heavily favored so far in Moments. I can still have fun, but it is a major distraction. Pretty much any time there is a sharp turn with any buildings, large view, or dense area, the screen tears and frame rate drops. The shadows and road texture appear lowered too. The best, most interesting stages seem to have the worst performance.
I would still like the option of a 1080 mode with improved shadows, draw distance, etc and rock solid 60fps with no tearing, rather than a heavily compromised 4k mode.
Hopefully the next patch will bring bigger performance improvements, add the CER, and added features to the livery editor and quick play.

Attm i have doubts if this will run good later on in VR. Even with my system.
Actually beside Monte Carlo i can run everything quite fine and dont have any stutters.
I think i have enough resources for VR but the game need to be proper optimzed otherwise i see that they run into same probems like with the launch of VR in DR2.0.
I like the game and i whish it also for other users with lowe sys specs that they can enjoy this game. - @ScarDuck14 Yeah, a bit different 😂
- @Kona_uk The game only sucks if you only look at the graphics of a racing game. The change of graphics engine was necessary and the improvements will be seen over time. The game is great, they just need to fix some bugs.

I always worry that it’s statements like these that allow the developers to think everything is fine and the game just needs a few tweaks here and there.
I’m on ps5. The performance is pretty disgusting a lot of the time.
what I enjoy about this game is the fact there’s so many great and varied stages. Through towns, elevation, just a lot of different stages.
there’s no point enjoying them if everytime I go near something that isn’t a plain dirt track with no crowd, buildings and scenery, if the frame rate tanks and the screen tears all over the place.
yes, there’s a great base here. I’ll give them that. The foundation is there. That’s the annoying part.
but they need to be honest with themselves and say that the performance is disgraceful a lot of the time and it absolutely needs fixing.
there’s been two patches, and to me it’s still terrible.
patch two even mentioned locations being made better, by name and yet it’s still terrible.
this could be an amazing franchise for years to come, but they need to get the foundation to where the performance is good. Then build from there.

Secondly, Unreal isn't just a graphics engine, it's a physics engine, and it's the physics that seem to be the cause of the problems. Whenever there's a stutter, it seems to be because the physics engine is trying to process something, be it a collision, or just something as simple as going round a hairpin.
Those stutters don't just affect how things LOOK, they affect how things HANDLE. I've been kind to Codies about the flaws in this game, because it is their first attempt at using something other than the Ego Engine, but it is not my place, nor yours, to handwave and excuse the frankly poor condition they CHOSE to release their game in.
I didn't see in the patch notes anything about fixing the career calendar. I'm not playing until nonsense with two target events in the same week are fixed.
