EA SPORTS™ WRC - Patch 1.4.0 Discussion Thread

@EA_GroguetI don't want to complain... Honestly... And I think I understand completely. It's just todays "politics" of game industry and theres nothing to do... The whole game world is broken, not only Codemasters. ☹️

ps. At least one positive thing. I had 100% sure plan to order "Fanatec ClubSport DD+" with steering wheel and load-cell pedals... Looks like now I will cancel it - saving about 1,500 €! Lucky me!

As widely reported, the latest patch prevents continuation of the career mode so I've been using other modes.

I completed a few remaining "moments" and thought I'd try quick play. There now appears to be a new bug here preventing you from saving any progress other than by the auto save. Last night I started a quick generated session and after the first rally I chose to quit and save my progress. I had an existing Progress 1 save (pre patch) so saved to Progress 2. I then just did a quick single stage in quick play before closing the game. Tonight I went to continue the session I saved last night only to find no Progress 2 save and the auto save was from the single stage I ran afterwards.

I deleted the Progress 1 save and then started a new session, saved again after the first rally and this time saved to Progress 1. I immediately went back in to load progress and sure enough, no saved games just an auto save.

Saves worked before 1.4. You can no longer have two or more series in progress.

Same....was working fine on 1.3, PS5. DD pro 8nm now I got no ffb or handbrake and glitchy graphics on stages that were fine before update

...really disappointing 😞 

1.4 update fps stutter is more than worst according to 1.3 on ps5. and of course career is not working. ı am a video games player since 1991 and ı can honestly say this is the worst update ever ı have seen.

PS5 now...is a festival of Tearing, in Gameplay and replays. ☹️

Worst than ever. I love the Game but this is unplayable

FYI a hotfix is something that is released quickly. Mid January is not a hotfix.

Also are you going to do anything about the broken PS5 performance? It was largely fine after 1.3.

Continuing the career now crashes to desktop on my PC. Way to go.

Going back to iRacing in VR....

First of all, I really enjoy EA WRC, unfortunately I have problems with game freezing for a quarter second to one second occasionally.
I have done a lot of troubleshooting, tweaks and tried all kinds of settings without any success.
When the freezes occur, the GPU usage drops down for a split second from 99% to 30-60% or with ultra-low settings from 60-70% to 30-40%.

I have monitored the system activity with MSI Afterburner and this problem does Not occur in any other games or applications.

What I have tried:

- Disabled all OC and Boost functions for GPU and CPU

- Locked Clock Frequencies with MSI Afterburner

- Disabled Core Parking

- Use Core Director so P-cores priorities EA WRC

- Newest nVidia drivers (used DDU for uninstalling)

- All driver updates and Windows 11 updates are up to date

- Latest BIOS

- Reinstalled WRC and cleared all traces during uninstall (Revo Uninstaller)

- Verifies Game Files in Steam

- Running all different Graphics settings in WRC (Ultra-Low to Ultra)

- Disabled all unnecessary programs and auto-start programs when running WRC

- Applied a bunch of Nvidia and Windows Optimization Tweaks

- Driving the same stage over and over (for shaders to already be loaded)

- And probably more things I have forgotten.

System:

- Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 G533ZW (Laptop)

- Intel Core i9 12900H

- 16GB DDR5

- M.2 NVMe PCIe4.0 SSD 2TB

- GeForce RTX 3070Ti (Driver 546.33)

- Windows 11 (with latest updates)

- Resolution 2560x1440 144hz (External monitor, laptop monitor is disabled)

- CPU and GPU Temperatures are under 80C

- FPS with Medium-High settings: 100-115FPS

- FPS with Ultra-low settings: 144FPS (144hz monitor)

Does anyone have any tips on things I can try or could this be a performance issue with EA WRC?

EDIT: I found what caused the problem with freeze lag for me. Since I'm on a laptop, there was not enough power for CPU and GPU when running both in full boost mode. I limited the boost of the CPU and my GPU could now work at full potential without any GPU Usage Drops and also no hit on performance.
