EA WRC is too slow

This game’s sense of speed seems too slow compared to real life. Here’s a 3rd person view of a real rally car going over 100 mph. It feels way faster watching this video than EA WRC. DR2 was faster feeling in this regard. Anyone else feel this way? https://youtu.be/w06sxp_BDjQ?si=CvKM322a2u5gmgln

  • @Quietpartner Maybe you’re just blessed with the reactions off a fly. Cause I and most of the content creators including the Aliens were definitely didn’t find it slow. I found it actually comforting watching some of the best sim racers on the planet flying off mountains and nose diving into trees almost as much as I was when I first got the game.

Sense of speed on racing games has alot to do with FOV. Decreasing it will. Slows it down. Increasing it speeds it up: all how your brain processes what your eyes see.

I Use bumper cam for specific races and the sense off speed is rapid

Maybe I do have the reactions of a fly. I agree cockpit view gives a good sense of speed, but 3rd person seems unnecessarily slow. Play DR 2 again and you’ll notice. There’s no way to change this in EA WRC. I only play in 3rd person, so it’s a little boring for me. I like to see the car while driving. Also, with 500+hp engines in this new game pinning the throttle around a corner should induce an amazing burnout and drift around corners in a real car, but EA WRC doesn’t seem to allow this kind of driving. They feel more like 200 hp engines even with assists off. I miss the immense power of the rally cross cars in DR 2, which only had 600 hp, not much more than the new rally cars in this game.

  • @Quietpartner I don't agree, it seems faster to me than in real life. The first Dirt Rally was much more realistic in this sense. Like the Richard Burns Rally.

What system? I played the PC version and it runs better than the ps5 version for sure, Something seems off on PS5 version, sense of speed is poor compared to DR2.0 and Dirt Rally

I played on Xbox series X. Yes, this game seems like it always has hidden assists on limiting the performance of the vehicles making the game feel very arcadey.

  • I totaly don't agree on this.
Some stages seems extremely fast in EA WRC (some Japanese, Centra Europe, Mediterrean stages)

You did bring here the worst hyped  video to compare anything...

Sense of speed is depends on many things mostly on FOV.
Watching a video recorded with a 170 degree camera everythinyg seems to be faster than on a single monitor when the game FOV set to 42 or lower

    It simple to check:
switch onboard cameras while driving. With dash camera view everything seems slower than begind the wheel while the car runs at the same speed.

If you have ETS 2 , use the zoom button (usefulto check the dash board of the truck) and voila!
You will understand at the first sight - same feeling as you push hard the brake on a truck while the truck still runs at the same speed

    Mostly it  depends on FOV

You need more sense of speed:

    - get 3 monitors, 2 at the sides will draws fast lines almost alll the times
    - set 70 or more FOV
    - set motion blur on
set higher refresh rate / frequenzy on your monitor

  • if you think it is too slow, go to options and change FOV (from 50 to 60). This will make the feeling of speed higher

    Not in third person.

  • i compared real rally onboard captures against its counterparts in ea wrc on the same stages and can say the the games cars perform slightly better/faster. besides that, it looks pretty much the same. cant share because its non public rally.tv footage that i used for my comparision.

it must be pretty much up to the "fov" aka sense of speed you are getting. the "simulation" and scale itself seems to be close enough to the the real thing.
