Engine rpm and speed mismatch and fluctuation
Hello. One of the most disturbing issues for me in this game has been how it feels like the engine rpm is uncoupled from road speed as soon you step on the throttle. And it is not just a feeling. It definitely happens at least based on rpm meter and instrument cluster of the in game OSD and the instrument cluster of the modeled car interiors. Even on tarmac and 4WD car the RPM greatly increases in the instant throttle is applied even if the road speed shown by the speedometer doesn't change significantly. It definitely shouldn't happen like that. It feels like there is a hydraulic torque converter between the engine and the road. However no rallycar I know uses a torque converter in the transmission.

Video number 1 shows the issue with a Ford Puma Rally1 where you can also see the throttle indicator on the hybrid indicator bar. Video number 2 shows this with Vauxhall Nova Sport with which you can also roughly se the RPM numbers. The RRP definitely should not change by almost 1000 on 3rd gear with less then 2kph variation in road speed. (Note the speedometers in WRC shows the actualy roadspeed, not the wheelspeed.)
As for sound I cannot say if it also wrong or actually right. Sound is supposed to change as soon as one steps on throttle because more pressure and torque is generated in the combustion chambers. However does the sound follow the RPM change and also changes changes in wrong way? I am not sure but this should be considered if something is done about this whole thing.
I also suspect this issue isn't just limited to RPM change but might go all the way down to wheels. I suspect that as soon as player steps on throttle the driving wheels actually start slipping by a limited margin no matter what. This would also somewhat explain the unnatural tyre slip mechanics in this game. However I have no proof for this last paragraph. I think UDP telemetry includes wheelspeed so if someone would like to see how the wheel speed looks like in this context it would be great.
So my suggestion is that developers figure out why the engine RPM is behaving the way it is and do whatever needs to be done so that the connection between roadspeed and engine RPM is solid like it should be. If it means overhauling the entire physics engine so be it (especially if it's actually also the driven wheelspeed that is jumping up and down like that). Okay maybe making major changes to the physics with this game is not really viable but maybe with the next game. I am just stating my opinion. Cheers.
