Full Moza Ecosystem Compatibility on Xbox

Many months ago, in October I think, there was an update supposed to add Moza compatibility on Xbox. However, only the R3 wheelbase gained an 'official' preset (and one more FFB option, tyre friction I think). All the other wheelbases, such as the R5, R9, R12, R16 and R21 (all fully compatible with Xbox as long as you use an ESX steering wheel) were left out of the update and are read by the game as a generic steering wheel. The same update added all these other wheelbases to PC, but completely ignored Xbox.

Also, rally games are known to offer incredible experiences for realistic transmission types, and it is no difference on EA Sports WRC. The auto select manual w/ clutch or sequential option adds much immersion and uniqueness for each rally car, but the supposed 'Moza compatibility update' also completely ignored adding Xbox support for both Moza HGP (H-pattern) and SGP (sequential) shifters.

What is more frustrating is that there's a power cycle before game startup glitch that makes both of them workflawlessly, but it has to be done each time before you start the game, which is VERY annoying.

So please, EA Sports WRC devs, take a look into this. The Xbox and Moza Rscing playerbase should not be ignored.

How do you get this to work f411? I'm having the same problems with the sequential Shifter. Was all mapped on the bindings but now my sequential shifter does not register on EA WRC now.

Well, it is not guaranteed it will work for you the same way it does for me, as I've seen different event sequences for other Moza wheelbases. For me (R12), I need to startup my Xbox by pressing the console logo (not on controller), with the wheelbase turned off (but can already be connected on USB port), once Xbox gets to main screen, I make sure the HGP shifter is on neutral and then turn on the Moza wheelbase . I wait for the steering wheel lights to stop flashing and switch to PC mode, then wait for lights to stop flashing again, switch back to Xbox mode and wait one last time for lights to stop flashing, quickly remove USB cable from Xbox and wait 3 seconds to plug it back. Finally, put HGP on reverse gear and start EA WRC (if in any other gear, it doesn't work for me), as soon as the game lands on main menu, I go to input screen to see if it register any input from HGP, if so, you're allbset until next time you shut off and boot everything again. If I want to use SGP, as I have both shifters, I do all the (very annoying) start sequence with HGP and when everything is done and already at game main menu, switch to SGP (I use a RJ cable splitter with physical switch button to keep both shifters wired to the wheelbase). Notice that the game needs to be fully closed and not on quick resume each time you go play — yeah, it sucks big time, but it's not Moza fault, but the game devs who don't care for Xbox playerbase and won't patch the game properly.

If you don't have HGP and only SGP, I'd try to hold its lever pulled during the game start stage of the sequence and see if it works — because I've noticed that Xbox games read SGP push/pull lever positions as 1st gear and reverse (even though I bind the other way since I prefer pulling to shift up and pushing to shift down, like most real life rally cars).

Hope it helps somehow. And also hope the devs patch this compatibility issue. It's a great game and we should be able to enjoy the most of it.

  • Many thanks for the reply f411 and detailed explanation.

I have the R3 and R5 base and tried today with changing bases and going through the sequence you suggested and also found your posts on other sites.  I got this to work on the R3 base afew times but the R5 base I managed to gain the settings and SGP back once but didn't work every time.  I own the SGP, HGP and HBP but can only have either SGP or HGP on my NLR WS 2.0 stand at the minute.

I did also as a last resort uninstalled EA WRC off my Xbox Series X and reinstalled again without restarting my Xbox and wheel and upon fully downloading again my SGP worked on the game!? Not ideal even with 1GB broadband lol

What RJ Cable Splitter and physical switch button do you use to have both HGP and SGP connected if you don't mind me asking cos I may purchase one myself when I sort an extender on my stand to fit the HGP, SGP & HBP.

I totally agree with you with the compatibility issue with the game. I play on PC on EA WRC but also have the game on Xbox Series X and I enjoy this Rally game.

Glad you got it working, did you do the glitch by using HGP or SGP? For some ironic reason, since yesterday I noticed it isn't working for me anymore. Definetely love EA WRC but I've been playing more DR2.0 over the past week due to quick start time (I have a toddler so available time to play is an issue).

About the splitter, it is this one: https://a.aliexpress.com/_m0Jcuuj

All you have to do is put HGP and SGP on ports A or B, and connect the other side (single port) to wheelbase.

Also, I have a NLR WS 2.0 too and managed to find a position which housed SGP, HBP and HGP on the shifter arm, all properly secured. It takes some effort to find the sweetspot to make HGP knob on reverse gear to not touch HBP lever, but it is possible. I wish the HGP could get lower. But I had to priorize the levers which require less hand movement.

  • Thanks for the pictures! Ordered a splitter switch today and also managed to get a plate extender for the Shifter arm to fit all 3 on myself. I've mounted the HGP, SGP and HBP today as a temp measure like how you have done yours but I'm sort of limited to space atm.

I'll upload pictures when the things I've ordered arrives.

I got this to work on the R3 base a few times but the R5 base I managed to gain the settings and SGP back once but didn't work every time. I got EA WRC working yesterday after uninstalling doing a complete shut down of the Xbox Series X but reinstalling it again and gained access without going through the PC/Xbox mode on the wheel. (I have my R5 base connected atm). I come back from work today to start the game backup again and gone through the PC/Xbox mode method you mentioned several times and connected both HGP and SGP on different occasions and I cannot get it working now :(

I'm currently reinstalling the game option via my 1GB broadband to see if the game boots up and the SGP works again but this is not an ideal option if I have to go through the same process each time.

One other option I am going to try is using a external SSD to move the game over which takes about 3-4mins each way depends on the speed transfers and do a complete Xbox Shut down before booting up my Moza R5 and see if this works.

Like you said its not ideal and EA WRC Devs need to add the Moza eco system to the game on Xbox.

I will update you if I have any luck tomorrow at some point to see if I can find a temp fix f411.

  • Cmon EA!! Last night I loaded up EA Wrc and I somehow got my MOZA SGP shifter to work, i go to load it up today and it doesnt work 😡
