Make stage edges softer
I have one wish for this game, after 140 hours of playing it. One thing that would make this game 100% more fun to play and actually a lot more realistic too.
Please give the stages themselves some give, some squash. Especially on the roadsides.
Try out Scandia (this is the trigger for this post) - any snowbank hit is pretty much a rally ender. It's like they're filled with reinforced titanium.
Same goes for the ditches in Latvia (or any rally).
Every single stage is plagued with edges that will wreck your car with even the tiniest amount of impact. A small rock in Portugal which IRL you'd probably drive over the top of maybe with a bit of suspension damage will destroy your car 9/10 in this game.
Of course, if I hit a treestump or a large rock I expect it to damage the car massively - that's not what this post is about. A small rock that's 1/5th the size of a wheel, or a bump in a ditch edge which only JUST touches the front bumper (Latvia is full of these).
The cars feel great, the stages would be great fun if it wasn't for this glaring issue. And this is a Codemasters problem. Dirt Rally had the same issue - if I remember rightly the other Dirt games also had the same problems.
There's a well known rally sim that is now 20 years old which is far more forgiving on the stage edges - but they do still bite if you get it really wrong! Please take inspiration from this game for the future.
