I totally agree! The much more granular tyre management of the previous WRC games made by Kylotonn added so much more depth to the rallying and an entirely new level of tactical decisions to make. Like putting a mix of tarmac and snow tyres on when driving in Monte Carlo or bringing an additional spare tyre of another type to switch some tyres between stages without service. It was just so much more fun than the rather simple and boring tyre management of EA's WRC.
