Seat Position and FOV - a Compromise

When using Head Cam, there is a limit on how far you can move the position in the car.

For me it's important to have the correct position in the car but also running the FOV I use in other SimRacing titles.

If I set up the FOV I want to use, I cannot get the correct seating position I would like because there is this limit on how far you can adjust position.

This makes it a compromise on which FOV I can use to get the correct position in the car, quite frustrating.

An example is Assetto Corsa Competizione where seat position limit is not affected by the FOV.

It would be great to at least extend the limit on how far you can move the position in the car.

Thanks!

I also don't understand why this topic is still ignored. Ok, most players probably use consoles and controllers to control a car with a third-person view. But the game also contains a lot of simulation elements, so there should be more options to adjust the view from the cockpit. I use a 49" Samsung G9 and in many cars i have set the same FOV, but look unnatural from the inside. The sense of speed is disturbed, the distance from the dashboard is too far when the driver's seat is pushed forward as far as possible. The best example is the Citroen C4 WRC, where it looks like we are literally sitting in the trunk (in one of the similar topics I even posted a comparison  photos). After all, it is enough to free the camera and give the possibility to move the eyes to the dashboard as individually suits everyone, also left, right and up and down.

It's a small thing, and we have been asking for it for 16 months.

Two years ago, I initially raised the issue of aligning the in-game cockpit position with the physical wheel while maintaining a preferred field of view (FOV).  I'd like to inquire about any progress on implementing this feature, any planned development, or potential workarounds.

As a sim racer with approximately 3,000 hours of experience across various titles, I consider this functionality crucial.  Accurate cockpit positioning relative to the physical wheel, coupled with a consistent FOV across different simulations, is essential for a truly immersive experience.

This isn't simply a matter of personal preference.  Incorrect positioning and FOV significantly impact immersion, creating a disconnect from the car and distorting the sense of speed. While I appreciate the game's overall quality, this particular element is paramount to achieving a realistic driving experience.

Yea we need the movement limits removed. Many cars are undriveable for me until this happens. Would also be nice to remove the fake sense of speed movements in cockpit view so it looks static like dash view. The dash is unusable as it's set far too low in most cars and the dash takes up half the screen.

Yes these posts keep popping up every once in a while. It looks like this game (like DR2.0) was not made with people having their (ultra) widescreen right on top of their wheelbase.
Too me it seems not something that would be really difficult to just extend the range of camera movement. Currently they make it seem like we are not actually moving the camera but the seat, although I think the actual driver does not move when you do. Maybe the developers want to avoid situations like in ACC where you can even go behind the driver and seeing the inside of the models.

  • I think this is the 4th thread I've seen with this issue.

Accumulating all "Me too"-votes those threads had, this would be a number one issue here. I'd also assume it's more or less just changing a handful of limit-numbers in the game code.

Would be really disappointing to not see this addressed [or at least given a statement, why the devs choose not to change it].
