Here's my workaround to use the Thrustmasters TH8A shifter as a handbrake - JoyToKey didn't work, because it still shifted the gear when using the shifter.
1. Go to the game directory, then navigate to WRC\Content\input\Windows\devices
2. (Optional - Backup is never wrong) Copy the file device_defines.xml and rename the copy to device_defines.xml.bak
3. Open device_defines.xml and delete this line:
<device id="{B660044F-0000-0000-0000-504944564944}" name="tm_shifter" priority="50" type="shifter" />
4. Save the file and start the game
5. Go to Controls and select the now renamed "T500 RS Gear Shift".
6. Select "Load Device Preset" and then "Direct Input"
7. Now you should be able to bind the direct input of the shifter as a handbrake key - no double mapping anymore.
@EA/Codemasters: Please let the player switch to Direct Input on any device!
