Sorry to necropost, but this issue still happens as of July 2024. I think this is the same issue described in this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/EASPORTSWRC/comments/17npptc/comment/k7tnqyg/
In short, the bug would be: The AIs who retire from any stage end up getting 00:00:00 time for this stage added and thus become the leaders of the event with minutes of advantage.
@gtrabach I'm glad notifs are still a thing for this haha. This bug stopped happening after a while, but it's just happened to me again today (10/July) in Career. Finished 4 stages yesterday, came back and did stage 5, and the leader is 27mins ahead of 2nd place.
