I'm playing Career on the long event setting, which I'm loving. It took a while to find an AI difficulty that works, but now I have it's great. Unfortunately, there are 1-2 stages each event where I suddenly win by 2+ minutes, making the overall event difficulty minimal. I think this may be due to how the AI handle tyre wear or something? It's ruining the fun of career mode when a close battle suddenly becomes a dominant win.
Me too 2min in a 5min's stage, career mode Sweden (stage 4 ,5)
same i have my ai difficulty settings on 90 and the first stages its a close call. but after then i win big time
Update: This appears to happen when I leave the game mid-rally (at a service or something) and then come back to play at a different time.

Same problem i was in monte after 5 stages and the end i exit from the game
when i start again from the 6 to 9 stage i win easily two minutes per stage
Same issue on PC. Tested from 70-100 difficulty. After backing out from the championship then resuming, AI drops off a cliff in terms of pace.

It can happen any time not just when you leave the game mid rally, seems pretty random for me, sometimes it happens on the first stage, sometimes it will happen on the last stage, pretty crap when you are having a good battle then you beat Rally1 cars in your Rally3 car.
Me too, I was about 5th in the first rally after 5 stages on 100 difficulty. Seemed like a good challenge but then suddenly I was winning stages by up to 5 minute. I only tried 2 more stages so not sure if it will go back to normal.
