According to other posters & my own experiences, there seem two bugs regarding AI difficulty.
1) AI difficulty drops off mid-event when you exit the game. This is a known bug and still not fixed.
2) AI difficulty drops at some stages without any obvious reason. I have experienced this in various rallies in different countries. For example, AI seems to be completely broken at Vargasen stage in Sweden – I'm suddenly 15–20 seconds faster in that stage without driving any better. Usually when you complete a stage, you get a split time at the finishing line. However, in those stages where AI is broken the split time is always 00:00:000 (despite being faster or slower). This is absolutely irritating and makes the career mode unplayable.
Yestrady the bug hit me again playing Championship Mode long Event. It happened in Mexico at the 3rd stage out of 9 while I had a close battle during the fist 2 I won the others about 2-3 minutes on average. I won the whole Event by more than 20 minutes.
So I will not longer play this mode until its fixed because it makes no sense with this bug.
I drove the first stage on Monday and resumed yesterday with th second where the bug wasn't still not there, suddenly in stage 3 he came. I didn't left the game or the championship mode either.
Really no Idea anymore what to do.
This is the most annoying bug because it ruins totally the fun to play......

Still happening to me on PS5. Got the latest update today (which was supposed to fix the issue), was 7th place in Sardegna, get into stage #4 and I win by 1 min 30 sec for no reason, then winning the fifth stage by 2 mins and getting first place in the rally. This is just an incredibly frustrating bug that should be so easy to fix.
For me now everything it’s ok. But i restart a new championship and not try to load the Old one. Also try in Custom championship and it’s work
my ia setting is 75/80 without any ads and i make two stage of monte in championship than save and exit and when i load again nothing change.
so now for me it’s playable maybe you have to start a new championship carreer for made the fix to work properlyThe real issue is the general pace of the ai, i think there is also in 75/80 level to much difference beetwen the First two driver pace and the rest of the field. It would be better if beetween the first and the eight driver in a stage there is 2/3 second difference not 15/16 difference
It seems to be fixed, but only after you start a new event (no need to start a new career).
My career was saved mid-event and after installing the patch, I still had laughably bad AI times in that event.
But since ending that event and moving to the next, I haven't seen it happen!
Seems the AI level/stage times is/are somehow saved at the start of an event.
