@EA_Groguet Mid-January fix is absolutely absurd.

Surely thats a joke. We have to wait a month to "maybe" get our career progress back? You could at the very least allow the affected players to roll back to v1.3 for the time being.

- 3 years ago@EA_Groguet " If a player has experienced this crash, there is a chance that their Career Mode progress has been lost with no ability to recover. " So if everyone who had experienced the crash (almost everyone, who wanted to continue his career) is at high risk, that even after the update, the career is permanently lost?? So i will wait till January to find out, that even after the update I will need ti start from the scratch. Or do I understood it not correctly?

Hi Groguet and Team,
I really want to support this game as it is a lot of fun and as a SW Developer I know things get complicated as soon as persistent user data is involved.I also understand that these developers deserve their holidays and I'm sure that this plays a role in the setting of this date.
Nonetheless I have to say I'm disappointed and many will be because the bug mostly affects people that already played a lot of career mode!!
So waiting over the holidays, when many of us would have time to play the heck out of it, is sad for us even though understandable.
Obviously I understand from your message there is no quickfix that would allow us to just reset any compromised benefactor goals to some known dummy goal that works even if we could never reach it based on our state of our season (obviously this would have to be opt in as not everybody likes failing goals, I don't care though). That would be a good way to circumvent temporarily but alas not possible without further corrupting what's wrong.
Everything so far is bad and you can definitely be blamed for not testing the introduction of a new rally into career but it's not as frustrating as my last point quoting from your message:
"If a player has experienced this crash, there is a chance that their Career Mode progress has been lost with no ability to recover."
So we could wait for continuing our career for one month and in the end we could have started over all along?
I'm sorry, but that's just saying: You better start your career over.
It's not SNAFU, it's a meltdown!
I don't know what I will do now, probably first play the hell out of clubs as much as I can but I might not be willing to wait one month just for finding out if my case is fixable and bite into the very sour apple of starting my career over. In many areas as well as in my area of work losing your save files/persistent data is unforgivable. And quite honestly it is also pretty much unforgivable in games for the career mode, the one thing that is supposed to be persistent.
It's not easy but if that's the best that's not good enough for me to give this a positive review unfortunately. If you can break your game so bad with a planned introduction of a rally that the main game mode is broken for over a month, something is wrong.
One last thing for everyone though: It's just a game and I definitely don't envy Groguet or anyone having to deal with the community reaction. I think my critique is mostly civil and I want to appeal to everyone to weigh your words before submitting.
Also I wish everyone at Codemasters and EA as well as all WRC players happy and joy filled holidays!

This debacle has an easy solution - to start a new career and for those whose world came crushing down, life isn't just a pc game.

Yeah, thats not a solution. A solution would be a timely hotfix or ability to revert back to a working build. It certainly isn't the end of the world, its just frustrating when I was just getting to the "fun" bit (faster cars, bigger budgets etc.), and now I cant be bothered doing it all again. Guess I'll wait till VR support is added, hopefully sometime next year 😏
As a side note I dont mean to take aim at the devs, I know what its like to work to a deadline when a project goes t**s up. Guess we all just expected better from a publisher this size, then again maybe not.

Will this problem not occur if I start a new career with Ver1.4.0?
The explanation is long and difficult to understand.- 3 years ago@DashimakiG I did it and everything works well, even tested to quit game and load the career again.
- 3 years ago@miiica76 thank you. I'll try again with a new one.

Mid-January!? Oh, that's really great! So you guys sell unfinished products to people, then throw those unfinished products in the garbage and then take a break at the end of the year?
That's really amazing! Shall I make you a cake?
Please refrain from making fun of users.
You are almost committing fraud.
The only thing that shows up on X every day is about Season 2, even though the game is trashed.
Stop posting with X right now, give up all your days off, and solve this game problem as quickly as possible, whether it's a day, an hour, or a minute.
Do your best. You guys have no idea that you've trashed the game.

@nismoskyline85As a software engineer I would expect you would know after 25 hours in a game. Unless you’ve bought a physical copy you have zero chance offf a refund. Plus also know that all spamming does is create noise and make it harder for other users to follow and keep themselves updated. Please don’t

@EA_Groguet Thanks a lot for the status update!
It says the team is "aiming to recover Career Mode saves for those that do not start a new Career". Is that only for people who have not tried to continue their possibly broken career savegame or does it also include people who have tried to coninue their career savegame and have lost it in the process?- 3 years ago
Thanks for the response and official information.
That said, a fix in mid-January, 1 month later, is still absurd!
This is how to kill a game :/I can't even imagine the frustration for those who had more than 100 hours in career mode.

So help me out here, people.
If I tried to continue my career (which at this point I believe everyone did, since you wouldn't know if your savegame was corrupted otherwise), is there still a chance to recover it?
On the other hand, might as well start a new career, who knows if they can fix it at all...

Largely unimpressed with this. If this was a physical product that completely stopped working 1.5 months after purchase, I'd be able to take it back for a refund (or replacement with a working version...). Can anyone explain why this is different with a piece of downloaded software?
For a physical product, I would expect to have been offered a refund by now.
- ScarDuck143 years agoLegend@NoisyGriff Because when buying a digital copy. You’re not buying it from your country of origin. Wherever your payment goes you can bet it’s a country that has little to no consumer protections. Or very favourable to co-operations..
For instance I’m in UK. If I buy something on the internet outside UK. And I want refund. I’m not going to be able to get UK trading standards to do anything as they have no power there.

I want a refund. My product is faulty due to a broken update and I am entitled to a refund. Because I have purchased through a 3rd party, EA won't refund me. The 3rd party won't refund me because I've redeemed the code. I have a product that is faulty. How do I get my money back?
- ScarDuck143 years agoLegend@FluffyPinkStuff You don’t read by above post

Yeah, I've learnt that every company has a clause or some way of covering up their responsibility to the consumer. Shameful. The players deserve better. It's them that keeps this particular economy afloat.
