And you have to start the stage before you can turn it off.

Now that career is in a broken state and most of the offline can be spent on time trial following the random suggestions right after beating a ghost, instead of focusing on a single stage for long, this issue has become more visible than ever. Please remember its previous user preference instead of resetting to On, and/or add a toggle for its default on the general options.
