The fact you have to choose a specific global setting of one or the other which is completely separate to the car you choose is a terrible implementation.
Basically everyone that has an H shifter will also have paddles, so there should be be a setting where you can use either, and instead of having to choose one, and you can just select which is more appropriate to the car. An extension of that is that it auto selects the right one for each car
