PS5: Vague center steering with Thrustmaster T300

I'm experiencing an issue with my Thrustmaster T300 GT wheel in EA WRC on PS5.
There's a vague area around the center, like the force feedback disappears for a moment, then catches when the wheel is turned just a degree or so. It's particularly noticeable on tarmac, and, obviously, confidence is lost along with time, even causes loss of control, for example in a quick s-turn.

The issue isn't present in Gran Turismo 7 and wasn't there on my old Logitech G923. I've tried adjusting various FFB settings both in-game and in the Thrustmaster control panel unsuccessfully, and the wheel firmware is up-to-date (34). So is the game, updated to the latest patch, and the PS5 operating system as well.

Furthermore, Thrustmaster's tech support's only advice was that this is somehow software related to EA WRC, the interplay between the FFB commands and the wheel, since it's only present in EA WRC.
Any suggestions?

    Anyone, anything?
Unbelievable that there is no apparent way to contact EA support with a support request about this issue. All I find is help articles that don't solve the problem.

  • I have the same wheel and have also noticed there is a bit of a soft/slow response area in the straight ahead position, it’s just like driving a car from the 1950s/1960s before rack and pinion steering came in! You could move the steering wheel left and right about an inch or so and nothing would happen, a bit like that. It would be nice if the response was a bit crisper on tarmac, as you say, it doesn’t do it in GT7.
