Re: UDP Telemetry?

Hello everyone.

UDP Telemetry will be coming to PC in tomorrow's Version 1.3 Patch.

For more information check out our documentation here.

Additionally, to dispel some rumours that have been circulating in this thread:

  • EA SPORTS WRC does not have an exclusive license/partnership with D-BOX.
  • D-BOX hardware is used throughout the development of the game, primarily as a motion platform for when we record co-driver audio.
  • As the hardware support was already implemented during earlier stages of development, it is only natural that it be supported from launch.
  • UDP support took a little longer to implement, but will be available from tomorrow.

    @PJTierneyCM Thats Great news. Thanks for the Update. I, for one, am loving the game. UDP support will only make it better.

    @PJTierneyCM Thanks for eliminating the concerns and filling in the gaps.

    Gut still wont allow a repurchase just yet, but maybe some time in the future.

    Thanks

    I want simhub to work, I'm not a programmer...don't understand that UDP abracadabra....now my workaround via race department doesn't work either.

    Pretend I'm stupid and tell me what to do, not how to be a game developer!!!!

    It's available since a few minutes as beta on the simhub discord, I won't put the link here to avoid self promotion links 😉 And it's too late for a full public release today 😉

    Thanks, don't know what discord is or how to get to that solution

    Indeed Beta supports UDP native, many thanks to the developers.

    That's great news... for PC 😕

    Now we are waiting for the same announcement for consoles. Will it happen ?

    I know consoles are generally behind due to sony/MS release constraints, but is it planned on EA side to have UDP on the consoles ?

    When I read "Edit the config.json" I'm getting scared. On consoles either you broadcast (PC2 style), or answer through a simple (GT7 approach) or complex (Asseto Corsa)  protocol, or put a field in the UI where we put the IP of the target. Which will you pick ? 🤔

    As I do not have the chance to have a PC running EA WRC, is there a way to get the files to get the packet/channels structure so I can anticipate some dev activities around simtools plugin ?

    Best.

    @PJTierneyCMHello !
    I understand that 1.2 is the corresponding console patch for the 1.3 PC release, right ? Is the release note the same then ? You see me coming I guess : is UDP supported in console ? The release note clearly says "on PC" , but you never know 😉 Thanks for your time.

    Please add telemetry to console so we have parity with F1 and most other racing games. Allot of people have simhub setups and can't wait to hook them up to WRC!!

    @PJTierneyCM

    I want to express my thanks to the team for the latest additions to the UDP Telemetry. Also the game has really taken big steps from the first versions. When testing my Tool with the game, I find quite often myself driving longer than needed for the testing.

    It is great that there is now data, which allows to provide useful telemetry to the drivers.

    Below is list of some things/data, which would be nice to have:

    1) Data which SPLIT the driver is now. You can deduct this from the 'stage_previous_split' changes, but would be great if one could just see this data directly from the UDP feed.

    2) Also current tyre fitted would be great into to have to allow more detailed analysis

    3) Some people have asked for the HYBRID cars' data etc, so now that there is already the ABS light data, so would be great if all the other data visible in the HUD/Car info screen would be available in similar way, i.e. Handbrake and other notification lights, the car data like oil and water temps etc. These would be great things to have, if possible.

    Cheers.
