Rear window rain drops falling...up

Driving Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 6 in the rain, on tarmac, I noted that the rain drops on the rear window fall "upwards" when the vehicle is in motion, looking back in cockpit view.
The drops appear to follow the direction of the windscreen, but when a vehicle is moving, the rain should move across the rear window (down) in the opposite direction to the windscreen (up).
