Reverse Doesn't Work, Resetting Car, Car won't Move Afterwards

I had this same issue, but found that a console restart with the shifter in H-Pattern mode fixed it.  Be sure to restart the game also, i.e. force close in case it's in quick-resume.  I get the same behaviour (no H-pattern available if I boot the console with the shifter in seq mode) in the new Forza game also, so not sure it's the WRC game.
