Unacceptable input delay, T300 on PS5
Product: EA SPORTS™ WRC
Platform:PlayStation 5 Digital Edition
Summarize your bug The time from when I turn the wheel (Thrustmaster T300-RS) to when the car starts to turn is 200-267 milliseconds. This is unacceptable for a modern, extremely fast paced rally game.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Run the game on a PS5 (or Xbox) and measure the time from turning the steering wheel to when the car starts to turn. I don't know if the issue is present with other wheels than the Thrustmaster T300-RS.
What happens when the bug occurs? The car is slow to respond, so it will often end up in a tree or at least in the ditch.
What do you expect to see? Instant response, or at least comparable to Dirt Rally 2.0 and Gran Turismo 7.
I don't have an accurate method for measuring the delay, so the 200-267ms range is from generous to non-generous assesment of slo-motion video data. For comparison, both Dirt Rally 2.0 and Gran Turismo 7 clock in at 117ms, so roughly half of EA WRC.
NOTE: The slowness of the steering wheel graphic in the game is a separate issue. This issue is the slowness of the car itself reacting to the physical steering.
This issue has been discussed in the YouTube comments of a video that shows the slowness of the graphic. Based on several comments on both sides, the PC version of the game does not have enough of a delay to bother the drivers, while both PS5 and Xbox consoles do.
