Still not working on my end. I also disabled everything under the VR api layers, also got a Windows update, but the game still crashes at the EA Logo. Still waiting on an official fix...

After investigating the issue, our team has found a solution and pushed it live on EA app. I am thrilled that some of you are confirming you can play again!
Meanwhile, similar issues on Steam continue to be investigated.
In order to help our team, could you try to boot the game in another machine with the same Steam account and see if this keeps happening?

I am a steam user who can no longer play the game since July, since update 1.9. Today update 2.1 has not solved any problems.
The game turns on properly but crashes randomly and fairly quickly.
The error message "The anti-cheat did not find the original directory".
On steam we have the option to check the files and repair them and every time 3 corrupted files are repaired.
All workarounds have been tried, but none have worked.
Personally I have already tried on another machine with my Steam account and that of my friends but it is exactly the same problem.

I'm not very keen on making VR api layers modifications as I can read above when I see your message. I've just started the game and surprise it worked.

I'm playing from the EA app and I've got the exact same issue. Everything was perfect before the update and now won't go past the splash screen. How can this happen from such a huge company? It's unbelievable that you can get it so wrong!

It still does not work on Steam version.
It crashes during intro since version 1.9.0.
The only solution that worked for me is to put the game in my C:/ drive. This way it launched correctly.
The problem is that I do not have enough space on this drive and I really need to install it on my D:/ drive.
Hope the fix will come soon, we have been waiting for 3 month now !
same here, still not working in Steam, but I will gladly download that EA app (never heard of it before) and try starting from there. will I have to get some sort of key if I bought it through steam? will I have to uninstall it in steam before?

Mine had not worked since before this patch so July/Aug, reading here someone mentioned OpenXR layers were causing their issues, i tried , but did not work for me. I run Pimax Crystal, and it also has its own tools, open Pimax XR - OpenXR Control Center, switched to SteamVR instead of my pimax. and now WRC works. So guess devs hate my Pimax 🙂
Another one trying to play and haven't been able to since 1.9.
I've reinstalled it countless times, different locations, did all the other solutions said before, yet nothing works. I can't play for something I've paid. This is so frustrating.
EA, Codies, Steam or whoever, please fix this!
It started to work for me.
First I confirmed what others reported about EA app having 2 Destop app folders. Removing one made the game working, but created other issues. Removing and restalling EA app solved the issue.
To confirm something was changed, before it was failing on a brand new windows installation that never had EA app before
So now it is working, and it is better than ever (VR, Quest3).
